Photographing Third Eye Blind at the Sanford Pentagon: A Night to Remember
This past September, I had the incredible opportunity to photograph Third Eye Blind during their performance at the Sanford Pentagon, part of the Sanford International Live! series. The concert, a signature event during the annual Sanford International Golf Tournament, brought together fans of all ages for a night filled with nostalgia and rock hits.
As a Sioux Falls event photographer, capturing the energy of a live concert is always an exhilarating experience. From the moment Third Eye Blind took the stage with classics like Semi-Charmed Life and Jumper, the crowd was electric. The band, led by Stephan Jenkins, delivered an unforgettable performance that resonated deeply with the audience, many of whom grew up with their music.
What made this event even more special was the local and Midwestern flavor brought by the opening acts, American Scarecrows and South Dakota native Rowan Grace. Their performances added a unique touch, blending indie-pop with heartfelt storytelling, setting the perfect stage for the headliners.
From a photography perspective, events like this are all about capturing the energy and emotion of both the performers and the crowd. I worked to document everything from the dramatic lighting on stage to the moments of pure joy on fans’ faces. This kind of work is what I love about Sioux Falls event photography—it’s not just about the photos but telling the story of a community coming together for moments like these.
