Capturing History: My Experience Photographing the Laura Ingalls Homestead for Eater

I’m excited to share my latest project with Eater, where I had the incredible opportunity to photograph the Laura Ingalls Homestead in De Smet, South Dakota, for their recently released Eater Guide to the Heartland. As a fan of historical sites and storytelling through photography, this project allowed me to capture the essence of a place that has had a lasting impact on American culture.

The homestead is a beautifully preserved piece of history, offering a glimpse into the life of one of America’s most beloved authors, Laura Ingalls Wilder. From the expansive prairie to the quaint structures that tell the story of the Ingalls family, every corner of the property holds a piece of the past. My goal was to bring those moments to life through my lens.

The guide dives deep into the food cultures and traditions of the Midwest, and it was a pleasure to be part of this larger project. You can check out the full article and my photography, along with other fascinating stories from the heartland, in the official guide.
