Capturing Award-Winning Storefronts: My Experience with Tullabee and AS Revival
Recently I had the incredible opportunity to photograph two storefronts in the Sioux Empire Mall: Tullabee and AS Revival, both designed by the renowned architecture firm NORR. These projects stood out not only for their design but also for the creative vision that went into transforming the spaces, particularly Tullabee, which was formerly a Yankee Candle store.
The Tullabee project, in particular, went on to win first place in the 2023 Retail Renovation Competition. The store’s playful and sophisticated design features caught the attention of industry professionals, and my photos were included in the award submission. It was a rewarding experience to see how my work played a part in celebrating such an innovative transformation.
Tullabee’s space is a perfect blend of vibrant colors, playful design elements like the child-size door at the entrance, and a ceiling adorned with cloud murals. Each detail contributed to the store’s immersive and engaging atmosphere for young shoppers and their families. Photographing this space was a fun challenge as I aimed to capture the essence of wonder that NORR’s team created through their design.
It’s moments like these—seeing my photography used in award-winning projects and publications—that remind me why I love what I do. Photography is not just about snapping images but telling a story, and I’m grateful to have contributed to the story of Tullabee and AS Revival in such a meaningful way.
